MBTI Training

“To move the world we must first move ourselves.”
– Socrates

At Lean Sensei International we support organizations with process improvements and enhancing teamwork and leadership.  An essential trait of great leaders is self-awareness.  Yet self-awareness seems to be in short supply among leaders.

Research shows that when we see ourselves more clearly, we communicate more effectively and are more effective team players and leaders.  Teams that use the MBTI® instrument develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of a team’s strengths, communication styles, preferred working styles, and areas for opportunity.  Insights from the introductory and advanced MBTI workshops provide a forum to address change, conflict, stress and leadership development.

What is the MBTI?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a questionnaire that is used to measure and describe a person’s preferences for where they like to focus their attention, how they prefer to take in information, approach decision making and orient their lives.  It was created by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers, who took Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types and made it more applicable for everyday life.  Worldwide for over 70 years, the MBTI is the most widely used instrument for understanding individual personality differences.

“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. “
– Benjamin Franklin

 Why take an MBTI workshop?

Research shows that when we see ourselves more clearly, we communicate more effectively and are more effective team players and leaders.  Teams that use the MBTI® instrument to improve their self-awareness, develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of a team’s strengths, communication styles, preferred working styles, and areas for opportunity.  Insights from the introductory and advanced MBTI workshops can be used to provide a forum to address change, conflict, stress and leadership development.

Why choose a certified Lean Sensei MBTI Practitioner?

Benefits of learning the MBTI tool and its practical application

  • Studies consistently emphasize the importance of effective communication. Organizational scientist Sunnie Giles studied 195 leaders in 15 countries over 30 organizations. His results are consistent with much of the research on effective leaders. Effective leaders communicate often, clearly and openly

  • Research by Tom Rath, author of the bestselling book Strengths Finder shows the impact of human behaviour on business and well-being. Leaders need competence in certain domains to be effective – executing, influencing, relationship building and strategic thinking. The MBTI tool provides an excellent framework to understand and address these domains through the lens of personality type.

  • Developing your emotional intelligence leads to greater success. People with higher levels of emotional intelligence are better at managing change, stress, others and themselves. The MBTI framework addresses these aspects providing an opportunity to live a more fulfilled life.

  • Great teamwork is essential to successful organizations. Yet, many companies grapple with effectively working as a team. Greater self-awareness, better communication, and an openness to understanding others (before jumping to conclusions) are traits of an effective team.

  • Leaders that understand the social aspects of change and the decision-making and resistance that arises because of one’s blind spots, are more successful leading their companies through change. The MBTI tool provides individuals with an approach to understand and appreciating how people accept and manage change.

MBTI Workshops

Individual coaching or workshops for groups are offered virtually or in-person. Topic areas include

MBTI Step 1 – this basic foundational MBTI workshop identifies a person’s four-letter type and provides a common language for people to interact with others and the world around them.  Understanding your type improves self-awareness, communication and your personal and working relationships with others

MBTI Step 2 – a more in-depth assessment that explores how people uniquely express their four-letter-type personality.
